1 cup frozen Mango

1 cup frozen Blueberries

1/2 fresh Avocado

2 cups fresh Spinach

2 sticks of Carrots

1/2 bottle Vita Coconut Water

+ ice cubes

Blend starting with Mango, Avocado, Carrots + Coconut water.

Add Spinach, Blueberries + Ice cubes last.

Drink up + Enjoy Healthy!

Summer; the BEST time of the year!

Full of BBQ, Cookout’s, tons of Ice Cream and of course my personal favorite…

Before you know those calories are adding up +up +up!

I am determined this summer to not let those summer pounds creep up on me!

I created a [Movements] board on Pinterest with great tips and exercises to help stay motivated and to have fun staying in MOTION and to WORK IT OUT all summer long!

From yoga to endurance I have found great pins that offer a wide variety of fitness for both the body and the mind which is a key factor in staying healthy!

I LOVE Hunger Games and this tribute workout is a great way for me to be entertained and to keep my head “in the game!”

Ehh…RUNNING;

Running; not my favorite to say the least! I always have a hard time trying to constantly run, however after trying out this Interval Running it has been a lot easier! It even helps to create a more positive approach  for me since I am able to keep up with this plan!

Interval running. Proven to burn more calories even after your workout than steady running. Also, proem to burn more belly fat and boost metabolism! Ummmm... Yes, please

And as ALWAYS...

LOVE YOURSELF! No MATTER what you look like, how much you weigh, you are BEAUTIFUL INSIDE & OUT! So please…no BEATING yourself up, no self HATRED and no matter what you are WORTH IT!

Smoothie of the Day;

Meet Pinango!!!

Pinango was so delicious!

Yummy tropical flavor which left me feeling energized + ready to soak up those warm  sun rays this afternoon!

After drinking Pinango I was ready to catch some waves at the BEACH!

1/2 container vanilla greek yogurt

I cup frozen pineapple chunks

3 cups of spinach

2 carrots

1 mango

1/8 cup milk of choice

ice cubes

Mix ingredients in blend till smooth !

Tip: + add banana for a creamier texture!

Sip

Welcome Granny Banany!

This is a delicious mixture of fresh and healthy ingredients!

2 cups spinach

1 small Fuji apple

1 medium banana

1/2 container vanilla Greek yogurt

Place all ingredients in blender and mix till smooth + delicious!

Meet Aladdin…my smoothie transporter!!!

He was a great find at Wal-Mart! A 16oz Mason Traveler Tumbler made by Aladdin in the Mint Condition color!

THE SMOOTHIE OF THE DAY!!!

I have really outdone myself with this delicious + creamy smoothie!

I call it….

AVANAGO

½ of an avocado

1 banana

1 champagne mango

1 cup spinach

1 carrot

¾ cup milk

Ice cubes

Put ingredient in a blender and blend-blend-blend baby until smooth + cream like yogurt!

This smoothie not only tastes great it will keep you full + give you tons of energy to start your productive morning!

{Berries + Bananas}

Today I am making an effort to start eating FRESH and HEALTHY food again!

Over the past few wintry months I have been indulging french fries, pizza, frozen meals and coffee!!! Winter is the worst season for me; between not wanting to adventure out in the freezing temperatures and not feeling particularly creative when it comes to cooking, I have been far from my A game!

I had a GREAT reanimate going with fresh smoothies for breakfast, salad for lunch, a light diner and no food past 8 pm!!!  Well……I am kicking winter in the face and reclaiming my healthy habits!!!

Starting with today’s breakfast,

Berries and a Banana with vanilla Greek yogurt!!!

I love fruit and Greek yogurt in the morning, it helps with controlling my appetite and aids in feeling energized!

What HEALTHY food do you like to eat in the morning to start you off your day!!!

And what is the one food that is a bad habit for you in the mornings?

{I<3Pretzels}

Being raised in PA Dutch country I have grown to LOVE pretzels! I currently live in beautiful Charleston and am completely homesick for a delicious, warm soft  pretzel (of which is nearly impossible to come by in the south). So today I thought I would share my love in an ode to soft pretzels!

The best of the best is made from the original Julius Sturgis pretzel bakery in Lititz PA! Located in Lancaster county, Julius Sturgis was founded in 1861 and is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America and still open to this day! I remember going there several times in my youth to tour the bakery and learn how to hand roll them the old fashioned way! I remember walking around the bakery in awe of the beautiful red, brown, mauve bricks that look like they were hand made by a mason!!! So much history in that bakery!

 The ancient history of just where exactly pretzels originate from is quite unclear however the first record is reported from 610 A.D. where monks would use scraps of dough to form the shape of children’s arms while in prayer. The three holes were meant to represent the Christian Trinity and was called “pretiola” in Latin meaning “little reward.” They were passed out to the children who learned their bible verses and said their prayers!

There are so many notations about pretzels and the good luck that they bring through out  history!

I do encourage you, if enticed too, follow up with your own research! Pretzels are a unique treat with a historical background and are delicious to eat! Next time you are in the Lancaster area, check out Americas oldest pretzel bakery, it is so worth it! And while you are there you can also visit the Wilbur Chocolate Co. as well!!!

{Moroccan Avocado Smoothie}

I am not a huge fan of avocado’s however I do like to “hide” them in certain foods and this smoothie is the best EVER!!!

Start off with + 1 avocado,

<[I recommend a smaller blender]>

+ 1 teaspoon sugar of choice

Then  + 1/2 cup or milk or almond milk

Let blend for a minute

+ milk until creamy texture desired is reached

 Pour, sip…..ENJOY!

{Healthy, Yes Healthy Smoothies}

Smoothies:

There are numerous cafes and restaurants that promote so called “healthy” smoothies however, most of them are chock full of chemicals and SUGAR!!! I have perfected yummy and healthy smoothies and if you stick to the guide below you will feel better and you might possibly lose some of that weight gain brought on from the holidays!!!

  • Start off with a base of spinach! Spinach is good for you and really has no flavor! Most people are off put by the color of the smoothies which are green however, they are tasty so don’t be scared! I use around 2 cups or 2 handfuls!
  • Next I add between 1-2 cups of carrots! I try to use shredded carrots so that way it mixes better in the blender and it will save you from having any chunks in the smoothie! Carrots are a good way to add a vegetable with out adding a funky or string taste/odor!
  • The next step is the most fun and full of many options….FRUIT!!! I like to use fruit that is in season as it will give a better taste and blend easier as well! I will mix it up and use a combination like pineapple, mango and melon! Mix it up and add different fruits to create your own favorite flavor combinations!
  • Additives: I really also like to add in an avocado! It creates a rich and creamy texture and is super healthy for you too!!! Also if you find your smoothie a little un-smooth try adding in a little bit of juice or even some ice/water to help loosen it up!
