I currently reside in the gorgeous and historical downtown Charleston, South Carolina!

I have lived here about 3 years now with my wonderful spouse, we moved here from Pennsylvania!

This is us;

Attempting a selfie on a hot + humid night drinking margarita’s on King Street!

So…..as you can tell, yes, we are an “interracial” couple by label.

Living Up North we have dealt with our fair share of racism + prejudice from a few people….however nothing like what we have come across in Charleston, sadly enough!

Today marks one week since the tragic shooting at the Emanuel AME Church.

Over the past 3 years I have walked past this church almost EVERY SINGLE day, I work down the street, my bank is next door and the location is central to downtown Charleston.

To me this day marks the day when 9 innocent people became victim to a MANIAC!

YES, this church has a very important historical timeline, YES, it was done out of hatred and racism, YES YES YES, I understand! I am not taking any of these facts away!

However….#BlackLivesMatter and Hebrew Israelites and the KKK is ALL SEPARATION! Which to me is fighting AGAINST the one very CORE thing this world needs…

The Charleston City paper published an article

No, a national #BlackLivesMatter leader did not say, ‘All Lives Matter’

“Man who took off BLM shirt at Ravenel Bridge event has been disavowed by local and national groups”

In the Article it talks about Jay Johnson, the executive director of a separate group called: Offical Black Lives Matter. He attended the UNITY CHAIN at the Arthur Ravenel Bridge where thousands of people gathered to show love and support for the church. Johnson received attention after he removed his #BlackLivesMatter shirt because it “has alienated particular groups.”

And I completely agree…..

Johnson also stated “After what I saw in Charleston, I want to say I’ve had an epiphany, what I saw yesterday was something that I had never seen. I really hadn’t. And it touched me and it touched a lot of different people. I talked it over with my leadership, and they’re like, ‘Listen, man, we’re elevating this thing. Let’s embrace it.'”

It just shows how bias that statement is, #Blacklivesmatter, that the people who coined that phrase want nothing to do with Johnson or his message. They have disavowed him and want it known that they do NOT agree.

To make matters worse…

Elias Lyles, a staff member of the activist organization Southerners On New Ground, says she also saw Johnson for the first time shortly after the Walter Scott shooting. “I’ve been organizing in Charleston for years and I’ve never seen this guy show up until now,” Lyles says. “And he is clearly not with national Black Lives Matter because no national or local Black Lives organizer would ever lead a march with a police chief or say that Black Lives Matter should be replaced by All Lives Matter.”

Asked to respond to the phrase “All Lives Matter” — a common refrain in internet forums and newspaper comment sections long before Johnson’s declaration Sunday night — d’Baha said, “It’s a continuation of white supremacy. When a black affirmation is too strong, it’s softened up to accommodate white ears.”

He added, “You really need to understand what an affirmation is. An affirmation is something that uplifts something; it’s not necessarily against something else. And that’s where there is some confusion: There’s an assumption that because black lives matter, they assume that all lives don’t matter. But that’s not exactly what’s being said … White supremacy operates because of black inferiority and white superiority. So when we are saying, ‘Black lives matter,’ we are uplifting the black inferiority piece and saying black lives matter. It doesn’t take away from anybody else’s lives matter, but it’s an affirmation that actually goes against white supremacy.”

I can understand they are trying to raise awareness for how black people have been treated however the statement to me is seclusive, selective and not uplifting! He speaks as if we live in a world where everything is either BLACK or WHITE! When it comes to gathering in love, not one single person needs to be secluded, that would contradict the very meaning!

There is only one race: human race. Caucasians, Africans, Asians, Indians, Arabs, and Jews are not different races. Rather, they are different ethnicity’s of the human race.

The definition follows as:

plural noun: ethnicities
  1. the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition.
I found a great article that talks about race from God’s perspective;
“God does not show partiality or favoritism (Deuteronomy 10:17; Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11; Ephesians 6:9), and neither should we. James 2:4 describes those who discriminate as “judges with evil thoughts.” Instead, we are to love our neighbors as ourselves (James 2:8). In the Old Testament, God divided humanity into two “racial” groups: Jews and Gentiles. God’s intent was for the Jews to be a kingdom of priests, ministering to the Gentile nations. Instead, for the most part, the Jews became proud of their status and despised the Gentiles. Jesus Christ put an end to this, destroying the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:14). All forms of racism, prejudice, and discrimination are affronts to the work of Christ on the cross.

I took a break from my blog and on June 20th I first spoke out about this incident on facebook:

“My heat is broken right now, all this turmoil, hate and separation in Charleston. I am exhausted from all opposition that is why I choose LOVE! We all matter and it is unjust and unfair for some more than others and there is hate stemming from all ends of the spectrum! I have never lived somewhere such as Charleston where there is SO MUCH RACIAL TENSION! We need to move on from the past, yes I said it, Lets understand the events of the past and leave it as a memory so we can all forgive and unite to create a world where we are all treated with importance and respect! I know the world is an imperfect place however if we all just try to realize we are all connected and created equal than we can all move forward! I look at tragedy through God’s eyes and see his grace and presence! I ask for prayer for humanity and for love! Please excuse me for a few days as I step away from the blog and find peace in solace with God and to see Charleston reunited after such a horrible experience!”

I will continue to support life, unity and love regardless of opposition!

I LOVE Charleston and will stay….

Please continue to pray;

Your love, support + prayers are still needed as we begin to heal from the loss and turn over a new leaf called

{Faith after Transgression}

While on Facebook this evening I was scrolling on my sisters page and came across (http://quote.vukki.com/bible/) where you type in your name and it generates a Bible quote for you! Was not thinking anything of it and when I typed in my name this is what I received…..

This is COMPLETELY weird……

Check out my post from 7 days ago….wait 7 DAYS….WOW!

My post was called {Healed through Transgressions}

Praise and Glory to GOD!

. . .

{Healed through Transgressions}

Isaiah 53:5. This is a great scripture to embrace God’s healing and to better understand that through the suffering there has been peace and righteousness provided to us thanks to Jesus!

To fully understand this scripture, a closer study between the lines provides the information needed!

A transgression is an act that goes against a law, rule, a code of conduct or an offense.

A biblical transgression is simply a violation of the Ten Commandments which, all things considered, is a sin!

While reading 1 John 3:4 [4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.] it is understood that breaking the law is a sin and sinning is transgression.

The etymology of transgression from Latin is transgressus which trans: (“over”) + gressus meaning (“step”). So if you think about it when we sin or act disobedient we are actually over-stepping God and keeping our own spirits from living in full righteousness of which Jesus was wounded tremendously for each and every one of us to have!

Iniquity is a gross injustice through wickedness, a wicked act or thing: sin. The quality of being unfair or evil is a sin. While reading Micah 2:1 [1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.] He forewarns us about the sorrow and distress that iniquity causes. Because of the power we misused in our iniquities, Jesus was deeply bruised.

The act of chastising; infliction of pain either as a punishment or for a recalling to duty. It is used as discipline and punishment. Jesus suffered our chastisement for our sins and restored peace unto us!

And of course by HIS stripes; which are long, narrow marks that have been left from striking with a lash/rod, we have been healed! That is right we have been made righteous by the healing of Jesus’s suffering! It is amazing that one man’s journey has changed the world forever!

This scripture to me is a great reminder that I do not have to fall into temptation, I do not have to transgress anymore because I am healed! It also means to me that even if/when I transgress that I am saved and forgiven by the grace and the love of the creator!

{Courage + Strength}

Often times {even tho I have an abundance of patience}, I become completely impatient to the point of frustration! In that bubble of which I have placed myself, my spirit weakens, I become {well try to at least} more self reliant and there is a shift in TRUST…..my HEART is deceived by my own forth bringing..

Psalm 27:14 is a INSPIRATIONAL reminder to have PATIENCE and TRUST in waiting for the LORD! If I can truly believe GOD and his WORD….I should be willing to at very least to wait on his timing! I believe all things should be provided through GOD and impatience seems to take away all the GLORY from the HIGHEST. The more we wait……the more time we actually have to FOCUS on FOCUSING!!! Thus we will have the ability to receive Truth and WISDOM.

Think of it as if writing an essay for school: the more time you have to prepare and to FOCUS on the subject the more precise and clear the final result will be. If you wait until the night before the due date we are usually scrambling to form a clear perspective thus producing a jammbled outcome!

If we wait on the LORD, he can strengthen us through HIM!

What issues arise in your life that are causing you to be impatient?

. . .

To be completely honest….Lately I have been consumed with work, new lipstick shades and worry/doubt about my life! I noticed that when I start to lose focus along with it goes my faith, calmness and strength! I begin to lose sight and become so un-content with EVERY aspect of my life!

That anxious feeling I get is VERY overwhelming and I become completely ENGULFED by stress.

Proverbs 16:3 positively places my faith into perception. When I let go of all the doubt-worries of my future, my job, money and my relationship with my boyfriend I can think more clearly. I can begin to calm down and focus on my main priority = GOD!

Once that kicks in I make it a priority to spend time in the scripture, talk more with God through prayer and my relationship with GOD grows! I feel more joyous and hopeful when I am closer to him. The relationships around me improve, little annoyances don’t bother me as much and I am overall less stressed.

It truly is a MIRACLE how our lives take shape when we let GOD take control: when we put GOD FIRST!

I love the lesson in this verse and I am compelled to share to those of you who struggle with anxiety, stress and doubt!

I am making more of an effort…taking more time to spend on the important matters and letting my life become established through GRACE, MERCY and LOVE from GOD!

{Scriptures for Integrity}

After studying and researching Truth ξ Lies from a worldly/definition standpoint I received a great deal of helpful information to further form an understanding of what lying and being honest really is. Once I got that out of the way I was ready to turn to the Bible and trust in God to reveal his thoughts about being Honest and living with Integrity through him!
There are numerous books and verses that deal with lying, honesty and living with integrity! The more I was reading the more I kept asking God for his direction with the topic; the more I kept turning to Proverbs! I have read certain parts of the book however it seems there are several verses that I was not familiar with!
I have comprised a few of the chapters and verses that really stuck with me on  how ‹[also why]› and the result of thereof!

Proverbs 2:20-22

20: That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21: For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22: But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

Proverbs 12:17-25

17: He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
18: There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
19: The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20: Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21: There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22: Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
23: A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
24: The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
25: Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Proverbs 19:1

1: Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

Proverbs 19:5

5: A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

{Bluffing our way through Truth}

In my last post {Lie, Lying, Lies} I went over the meaning of  a Lie with several definitions to help grasp the concept of what a Lie really is!!!

Now onto a few of the ways we Lie! This is where is gets interesting;

» Bluffing: is not considered to be Lying, immorally speaking! In these type situations, deception is acceptable & is commonly expected as a tactic!

» Lie-to-Children: is a Lie, often a platitude, which may use euphemism(s) which are told to make an adult subject acceptable to children. EXAMPLE; Santa-tooth fairy-stork-etc.

» White Lie: is considered a minor Lie which could be considered to be harmless or even beneficial in the long term. Also to be considered used for the greater good! A common version is to tell only part of the truth, therefore not to be suspected of Lying , yet also to conceal  something else to avoid awkward questions. Is also used to shield someone else from hurtful or emotionally damaging truth, especially when not knowing the truth is completely harmless!

» Broken Promise: is the failure to keep ones spoken commitment or promise. It can be especially damaging when the person had zero intention of keeping their word to begin with!

» Bad Faith: is Lying to oneself. It is failing to acknowledge one’s own ability to act & determine one’s possibilities, falling back on the determinations of the various historical & current totalisations which have produced one as if they relieved one of one’s freedom to do so.

» Butler Lie: is described as small or innate Lies which are usually sent electronically & are used to terminate conversations or to “save face.”

» Exaggeration: or a hyperbole occurs when the most fundamental aspects of a statement are True, but only to a certain degree. Seen also as “stretching the Truth.”

The list actually goes on however I picked a few of which I thought were interesting because we either try escape-goat out of a situation that really is a Lie or we are in total self denial that even a White Lie is actually still Lying! I believe it is important to stay Honest to others and mostly to self as well!

Are there any of the Lies listed above that shocked you or got you to really meditate on how you speak and how sometimes we unintentionally Lie?

. . .

{Lie, Lying, Lies }

After spending time meditating on truth; I decided in order to fully understand I should research it’s opposition: Lie.

As usual of lately while researching the definition of lie, lying, lies I have come across ridiculous definitions! Lie produces numerous definitions that are not of nature to what a lie actually is! To my amazement I had to read too many definitions and paragraphs of information before arriving at one that actually involved a lie!

According to Merriam Webster;
~» to have a place in relation to something else. Example (the real reason lies deeper).
~» to have an effect through mere presence, weight, or relative position. Example (remorse lay heavily on him).
~» to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive.
~» to create a false or misleading impression.
~» to bring about by telling lies.

Google search was more helpful in finding information in regards to a more appropriate or informant description.
It explains that a lie is the blunt term used to impute dishonesty.

A) an assertion of something known our believed by the speaker to be untrue with intent to deceive.
B) an untrue or inaccurate statement that may or may not be believed true by speaker.
So that to me explains that there is a difference between lying on purpose to deceive and lying while believing the lie yourself which means also a lie wether or not the speaker knows it or not! Interesting!

Lying is also;
~» marked by or containing falsehoods.
~» something intended or serving to convey a false impression; impostor.
~» a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

A word associated with “Lie” is:
~» to avoid telling the truth by not directly answering a question.
~» to deviate from the truth.

Honestly there are many different ways to lie…..either intentional, un-intentional, or by withholding!

My next post I will go over some of the different ways we as humans lie, yes there are many terms with definitions of what + how a specific lie is! If we meditate on how many ways we are lying  daily, we will be able to understand how to be more truthful…..Honestly and within!

. . .

{Legitimate + Real}

Merriam Webster defines Honesty as;
Good + truthful: not lying, stealing our cheating.
⇒ Showing our suggesting a good + truthful character.
⇒ Not hiding the truth about someone or something: not meant to deceive someone.

…Below is a list of words associated with HONESTY…

. . .

I have been meditating lately on honesty & truth! It’s a subject that I will be focusing on this first month of the new year!………
To start my truth serum I decided to ask my readers and fellow bloggers just what honesty means to you;
~*{Comment your thoughts, ideals and definitions of what you believe honesty is all about!!!!}*~

{Truth about us as Women + Woman}

I am a firm believer in respecting yourself as a woman, yes respecting YOURSELF as a woman! In doing my research about the subject of woman I found numerous images, quotes and definitions that are beyond disturbing.

There are several  different definitions that can be found on women/woman that are clearly objective and far-fetched. Merriam-Webster has several listings among them; An adult female human being and wife, girlfriend, lover or mistress. A few other definitions include; appropriate in character to a women and having/showing qualities that are expected in women such as gentleness and beauty. I also took a look in the Urban Dictionary however, I will not post any of the information provided on that site as it is obscene and completely degrading.

In today’s society I have noticed a lack of self-respect by the majority of women in the highlights of the world! Between the way we as women dress to the way we act as a gender! So I  find it as no surprise that when I type in women on Google images I see mostly nakedness/perversions and an overall complete lack of respect, it truly is a shame!

In my disappointment I have decided to post positive quotes and verses that can teach us as women how to respect ourselves and how to be a good woman of faith! I will post a few verses below that I urge you to take a look for yourself and really meditate on the type of woman you want to be in Christ!

Proverbs 31; is a great place to start, it lists the ways of a virtuous woman:

31:10; Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

1 Peter 3; discusses the adorning of outward beauty, being meek & quiet and being in subjection to our husbands.

1 Timothy 2:9-15; Discusses appropriateness and how we as women are saved through childbirth.

Being a woman to me is strength, understanding, wisdom, patience and love! If we dedicate ourselves to being women of God and turn our cheek to that of which the world tries to tell us what we are, we can overcome this great downfall that is taking place!

To Honesty!

{Absolute fasting}

A topic I feel is not talked about much in church or in general! I had certain ideas of what fasting was as a child and through research I have discovered a few game changers on the whole idea of what fasting really is!

Flipping through the bible I realized that fasting is relevant to creating or rather bonding our relationship with God! When I was younger I just thought of it as “something” Christians do however, I have recently been focusing on something that has been lacking, READING THE BIBLE!

I know, I know, it sounds crazy!

I admit over the years I myself have not turned as many pages as I should have and yet I wondered why my faith is lacking. I started reading Matthew 6 today as well as joining a reading plan about fasting as I continue research in preparation for my upcoming fasting.

Do you have any preconceived notions about fasting that you have broken out of or gained special wisdom/insight on please share?!

Matthew 6:1-18

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
